Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which primarily works through verbal expression, somatic therapy incorporates physical awareness, movement, breath, and sensation to help release stored tension, trauma, and stress held in the nervous system. The word "somatic" comes from the Greek word soma, meaning "the living body," and this therapeutic approach honors the body as an integral part of emotional and psychological well-being.

By tuning into bodily sensations and patterns, somatic therapy helps individuals become more aware of how stress, trauma, or unresolved emotions show up physically—such as in tight muscles, shallow breathing, or restlessness. Through guided practices like mindful movement, breathwork, grounding techniques, and touch, clients can begin to unwind these patterns, restore regulation in the nervous system, and develop a deeper sense of safety, embodiment, and resilience. Somatic therapy can be especially beneficial for those dealing with anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, or disconnection from their body, offering a holistic path toward healing and self-awareness.
